Dr. Rai's mother was a dentist when his father died. He was nine. The family had already crossed the world once, born in Pakistan, to Canada at four, then on to the United States, and watching her rebuild a career from nothing shaped everything about how he practices today.

He studied microbiology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, then earned his DMD from the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University. He joined his mother, Dr. Lubna Taj, at Franklin Dental Care & Dentures and has spent the years since building it into more than a place that fixes teeth.

The belief underneath all of it is simple: oral health is a human right, not a privilege.

Most dentistry waits for disease and then treats it. Dr. Rai wanted the work to start earlier, with prevention, with education, with people understanding their own mouths well enough to teach their kids. That is why Franklin Dental is built around Medicaid and denture patients, and why so many people arrive here after years of being turned away or talked down to somewhere else.

He also founded Bright Smiles Community Outreach Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that spreads preventive education about oral care by partnering with schools, community organizations, musicians, farms, and more. His personal brand is Turabify, which connects students with mentors in the fields they are aiming for.

Dr. Rai is a member of the American Dental Association, the Cincinnati Dental Association, and SCORE.
