Extractions
Sometimes a tooth is too broken, too decayed, or too loose from gum disease to save. Holding onto it usually costs more pain and more money than letting it go.
Before anything happens, we numb the area completely and wait until you tell us you're ready. You'll feel pressure — that's normal and unavoidable — but you shouldn't feel pain. If you do, we stop and add more.
A straightforward extraction takes a few minutes. One that's broken at the gumline or has curved roots takes longer, and we'll tell you which one yours is before we start.
Afterward you'll bite on gauze for about half an hour, then leave the area alone for 5 days — no straws, no smoking, no poking at it — and take something for soreness. We'll write it all down for you and give you prescriptions.
